The salvage of a stranded cargo ship in Fárskrúðsfjörður, East Iceland, this morning proved unsuccessful, reports the National Broadcasting Service, RÚV.
The Coast Guard vessel Þór attempted to drag the Bahama-registered ship Green Freezer at high tide this morning. The attempt ended when the towline broke under the massive strain.
According to officials further rescue attempts have yet to be scheduled.
