Well, to begin with, the breed is believed to possess as ‘sixth sense’ as well as a number of unique physical characteristics such as longer legs, softer wool, and a more slender body because they have been bred for their intelligence rather than meat.
The leader sheep population in Iceland is an estimated 1.200 animals, making the products that much more exclusive. According to Fjóla Halldórsdóttir, who runs Kind with Svavar Halldórsson, part of all proceedings go to Fræðasetur um forystufé in Þistilfjörður fjord, a centre dedicated to the Icelandic leader sheep.
