English celebrity chef and television presenter Rick Stein is in Iceland filming a new television series. Stein visited restaurant Matur og drykkur at Grandagarður 2 yesterday, where chef and owner Gísli Matthías Auðunsson prepared the restaurant’s signature dish of cod‘s head.

“Rick is a living legend in the business and one of BBC’s leading celebrity chefs. It was a great honour to have him over,” Gísli Matthías said.
Matur og drykkur’s menu consists of traditional, Icelandic dishes such as hashed fish and the humble “kleina” (deep fried sweet bread), but served in new and innovative ways.
According to the National Broadcasting Service, the British restauranteur intends to visit a number of local restaurants during his stay in Iceland.
