The fire department of Árnessýsla county in South Iceland was dispatched to Hotel Selfoss the largest hotel in the town of Selfoss at around half past ten tonight. A fire, which had broken out in the restaurant of the hotel, had made its way up to the roof of the hotel.
According to the local news site Vísir, which was first to break the news of the incidence, the fire had not spread beyond the chimney of the hotel, and firefighters, having arrived nearly instantaneously, seem to have been able to contain the fire. Operations are ongoing, however.
No one has been reported injured or in any danger.
