A bus with about 40 foreign travellers, an Icelandic driver and tour guide aboard, has slipped off road and rolled to its side in Southwest Iceland. The bus was on the road to Þingvellir National Park, one of Iceland’s most popular travel destinations.
A number of ambulances and police cars have arrived to the site and a helicopter from Icelandic Coast Guard has been sent from Reykjavík.
The accident happened around 30 km (18.5 mi) drive from the capital.
UPDATE Two passengers were stuck in the bus and had to be cut out. Nine passengers are injured, thereof five seriously. More to follow.
