Icelanders celebrate Bolludagur, Sprengidagur and Öskudagur at the beginning of next week: Three days of over-indulging and innocent fun! Here’s a little summary on the Icelandic traditions surrounding these days.

On Bolludagur, which takes place on Monday, Icelanders will consume a whopping one million cream buns.

Bolludagur is followed by Sprengidagur, the Icelandic equivalence of Mardi Gras.
