Rescue teams searching for a French man who fell into the river in Sveinsgil have recovered his body from the water.
The man had been hiking in the area north of Torfajökull glacier in the central highlands when the accident occurred.
The search for the man, which involved 200 searchers, helicopters, divers and the Coast Guard’s bomb squad, took two days and was one of the of the largest rescue missions to have been conducted in the country.
