The fourth annual blues festival will be held in Patreksfjörður village in the Westfjords this weekend. The festival will begin tonight, at 22:00 at the bar Heimsendi, which translates literally as World‘s End, which is appropriate, since Patreksfjörður is one of the most remote villages in Iceland.
This year‘s festival is called „Blues between sea and mountainside“. The reason is pretty simple according to Páll Hauksson the organizer of the festival: “There is nothing but mountains and sea here in the Westfjords, so we thought it was an appropriate name for the festival.”
The theme of the festival will be bacon and beer. Páll told the local news site Bæjarins Bezta that he could be enough bacon for all those who attend, as well as a one free beer. “I can promise good blues and enough beer and bacon for everyone.” Tickets cost 2,500 ISK (USD 19/EUR 16).
