Icelandic musician Björk was named best International Female Solo Artist at the 2016 Brit Awards yesterday evening, reports the National Broadcasting Sevice. The singer could not attend the award ceremony but sent a video message thanking the audience.

“Thank you so much, immensely friendly Britain, for the absolutely best title ever. I’m going to enjoy very much being the best international female for a whole year. I’m very honoured. Thank you,” she said.

Björk faced stiff competition in the category, competing against Lana Del Rey, Meghan Trainor, Ariana Grande, and Courtney Barnett.

Last August, Björk announced she would be cancelling several scheduled tour dates. Her latest album, Vulnicura, was written before and after the break-up of her marriage to artist Matthew Barney. She explained that singing the album had proven to be too emotionally intense for her to complete the tour.
