The Biophila Educational Programme is set to begin in all Nordic countries this week, reports Mbl.is. The project was created and funded by musician Björk Guðmundssdóttir and is designed to inspire children to explore their own creativity, and to learn about music, science and innovation in the process.
The Biophilia Education Programme is one of many cooperatives instigated by Iceland during their year-long presidency in the Nordic Council of Ministers.
Each country (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Greenland, Faroe Island, Iceland and Aaland Islands) will receive a Biophilia chest which includes physics, biology, music and multimedia tools, and distribute them to regional schools. The chest is designed to break up traditional teaching methods and also contains teaching ideas formulated by a group of Nordic specialists.
