Travellers who plan on being on the road in South or South East Iceland tonight should show extra caution. The Icelandic Meteorological Office is warning that localized winds can pose a threat to drivers near mountains in the Eyjafjöll mountain range in South Iceland and the Öræfi region in South East Iceland.
These are two of the windiest regions in Iceland. Powerful localized winds have on numerous occasions blown cars off the road, or caused drivers to lose control of their vehicles.

In the Meteorologist's note in today's weather outlook the IMO notes that the temperature will begin to rise later in the week. Aside from sharp winds in the South and South East tonight and early tomorrow morning the weather looks ideal for travel and sightseeing. Just remember to drive carefully: Slow down, buckle up and take your time to enjoy the view! There is no need to rush.
