Tonight will determine if Iceland competes in grand final
Tonight eighteen countries will compete in the first of two semi-finals which will determine which countries will advance to the the Grand Final. Six countries secured a spot in the Grand Final by placing in the top six spots at last year's competition. Ten additional countries from each of the semi-finals will also advance to the Grand Final.
European betting sites do not expect Iceland to do well in tonight's semi-finals. According to the website EurovisionWorld.com, which has compiled the bookmaker odds for each of the 18 countries qualifying for the grand final, Iceland will come in 15th place tonight. Only 10 countries can advance to the grand final. Iceland stands a 1 to 4 or 5 chance of making it to the next round.
Iceland expected to do very poorly
The only countries Iceland is expected to do better than are Albania, Montenegro and the Czech Republic. Armenia and Sweden are expected to be virtually certain of advancing to the grand final.
