Market Weekend in Bolungarvík
Markaðshelgin í Bolungarvík (Market Weekend in Bolungarvík) begins Thurdsay 3. July and lasts until Sunday. The festivities begin with a concert on Thurdsday evening featuring some of Iceland‘s most popular artists (including Ragnheiður Gröndal and Pálmi Gunnarsson).
A golf tournament takes place on the Friday and later a parade, a bonfire followed by „brekkusöngur“ led by Hafdís Huld and Alisdair Wright (people gather for brekkusöngur and sing popular songs, old and new). Saturday is „market-day“ which ends on a high note: A concert and dance with the Rokkabillýbandið (The Rockabilly Band).
Steampunk festival in Bíldudalur
The tiny town of Bíldudalur turns into the fictional town of Bíldalía during the days of June 27th-29th, when Iceland’s only steampunk-fest kicks off. Steampunks will gather at the edge of the world to enjoy exhibitions, concerts and other festivities.
Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction and is often inspired by industrialized Western civilizations during the 19th century.
Football match in Ísafjörður
