Magical Strandir
The Museum of Icelandic Sorcery and Witchcraft is highly recommended to anyone visiting the town of Hólmavík. The quirky exhibition shows tidbits from Icelandic folklore and explains the witch-hunt which took place in Iceland in the late 17th century. An excellent, little seafood restaurant is also run in the locale which is well worth a try.
The museums owner, Sigurður Atlason, is full of knowledge about local folklore and the area and will gladly give tourists interesting information on what to see and do in the region.

Steampunk festival in Bíldudalur
The tiny town of Bíldudalur turns into the fictional town of Bíldalía during the days of June 27th-29th, when Iceland’s only steampunk-fest kicks off. Steampunks will gather at the edge of the world to enjoy exhibitions, concerts and other festivities.
Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction and is often inspired by industrialized Western civilizations during the 19th century.

Art in Tálknafjörður fjord
Staðir, a series of exhibitions taking place in Vesturbyggð, Iceland, opens today at 1pm and lasts until 8pm. The project is curated and organised by artists Eva Ísleifsdóttir and Þorgerður Ólafsdóttir who have invited three artists to make either permanent or temporary art work in collaboration with local authoraties. The artists and places are Bjarki Bragason – Hnjótur Museum, Karlotta Blöndal – Tálknafjörður fjord and Hrafnkell Sigurðsson – Algea Factory in Bíldudalur.
The schedule starts on Friday 20th June at 1pm with a discussion about Bjarki Bragason’s exhibition First Part / Second Part in Hnjótur museum, Örlygshöfn. After the talk a light lunch will be served along with coffee. At 3 pm the group will head on to Bíldudalur to the opening of the exhibition by Hrafnkell Sigurðsson in the Algea Factory in Bíldudalur.
From Bíldudalur we will drive to the final destination, Tálknafjörður, were Karlotta Blöndal has installed her piece entitled Mót.
