„Try not to miss a football game if local club ÍA is playing. Akranes is often referred to as a football-town because of its great football tradition and the atmosphere created in the stadium is wonderful during summertime.“
Recommended by Freyr Bjarnason, a journalist and former professional football player.
ÍA and Bolungarvík will meet in Torfnesvöllur field in Ísafjörður on Saturday at 3 pm.
Hraunfossar waterfalls
A series of short fresh-water falls, which tumble into the Hvítá river along an area approximately 1 kilometre (0.62 miles) in length. What makes these waterfalls different from others is the way they are formed. Subterranean water bubbles up and streams out over the lava field, then breaks up into rivulets that fall off the lava bed into the river. A beautiful place to visit and have a little picnic.
This is the West Iceland section of Best of Iceland This Week, the only Icelandic guide of its kind. New every week.
