Ice-cream at Erpsstaðir farm
Erpsstaðir farm is among my favourite places to visit. They are known for their home-made ice-cream and cheese. Delicious!”
Recommended by Elsa Sigurðardóttir, a nursing student.

Cruise around the beautiful Breiðafjörður bay
“I recommend a boat trip around the Breiðafjörður bay. It truly is one of the most beautiful places in Iceland.”
Recommended by Hjalti Sverrisson, the hotel manager at Hótel Hellnar on Snæfellsnes.

Handmade playground
Bjössaróló is a lovely, little playground situated near Englendingavík (Englishmen’s Bay) in Borgarfjörður. The playground was built by craftsman and idealist Björn H. Guðmundsson, nicknamed Bjössi, from recycled materials. A perfect place for a fun filled family outing.

Hike around Hvalfjörður fjord
Enjoy a walk up along Álftaskarðsá river to the top of Álftaskarðsþúfa. From there you can enjoy a breath-taking panoramic view over Hvalfjörður fjord. The old Bláskeggárbrú bridge is also worth a visit. It’s the oldest stone bridge in the country.

This is the West Iceland section of Best of Iceland This Week, the only Icelandic guide of its kind. New every week.
