Danish inspired town festival
Danskir dagar (Danish Days) is the name of an annual town festival in Stykkishólmur, West Iceland, started yesterday (August 14th). The festival celebrates the town‘s Danish roots and this is the 20th time it takes place. Including the many activities taking place all over the town during that weekend are a car-boot sale, concerts and a family show with Jón Arnór, a seven year old magician who gained much attention after reaching the finals in Iceland‘s Got Talent.

Music and dinner in Sælingsdalur
Musicians Ellen Kristjánsdóttir and Eyþór Gunnarsson perform in Hótel Edda in Laugar in Sælingsdalur valley on Saturday (August 16th).
A four course meal will be served before the concert at 6.30 pm for 7.900 krónur (51 euros/68 US dollars).

Concert in Gljúfrasteinn
Sesselja Kristjánsdóttir, mezzosopran, and Helga Bryndís Magnúsdóttir, pianist, perform a concert at Gljúfrasteinn, Mosfellsdalur valley, on Sunday (August 17th) at 4 pm. The concert is part of the Musical Moments at Gljúfrasteinn series. Admittance is 1.500 krónur (9 euros/12 US dollars).

Get to know Viking Egill Skallagrímsson
The Icelandic Settlement Centre in Borgarnes gives visitors a good overview of the Viking settlement in Borgarnes and on Egilssaga, the tale of infamous Viking and poet Egill Skallagrímsson. The centre also includes a wonderful, little gift shop and a lovely restaurant.
The Settlement Centre is located on Brákarbraut 13 – 15 and is open all year 10am-9pm.

Good eats
Try restaurant Galito. I´ve eaten there a few times and the steak-sandwich I ordered the last time there was delicious!”
