Schedule in Þjóðveldisbær from 14:00-16:00 on June 14 for Vikings, handcraft, games, music, dancing, lectures and settlement soup. The venue is Commonwealth farm in Þjórsárdalur, a reconstructed Farm based on the excavated farmhouse Stöng from the Commonwealth Era in Iceland. This historic location provides visitors with an opportunity to study the buildings of native Icelanders, while also enjoying the scenic surroundings.
Kótelettan festival in Selfoss
This festival will be held for the 5th time in Selfoss and is now one of the biggest BBQ parties in all of Iceland. All kinds of Icelandic meat and vegetables will be present on the menu. The family schedule will take place during the day and there will be a music festival in the evening. Additionally, there will be a competition to decide the best BBQ chef, with a great chance to taste test some of Iceland's best grillers. The festivities take place tomorrow, June 14.
Gullspretturinn around Laugarvatn
Take part in the Golden sprint around Laugarvatn lake, a 8.5 km race that is a great test of overall endurance. You can registration on www.hlaup.is, but be sure you are mentally ready for the exhausting task at hand. The race includes a dip in the lake, that proves a test for all athletes, but the thrill of finishing makes the whole experience worth it. See you at Laugarvatn on June 14!
