The Westman Islands
Experience Iceland with a day-trip to the Westman Islands. Árnes Camp Site
If you are in need of getting in touch with your outdoorsy side, enjoy a great camp site atmosphere at Arnes. About an hour drive from the capital city of Reykjavik, The camping ground is located right next to the Kálfá river. Additionally, the site is set up adjacent to the Þjórsárdalur valley where you find many natural wonders, historic sites and diverse nature. From an ammenities standpoint, the camp site has a spacious green flat with 36 electrical connectors. Also, there are a good side areas including a flat right by the pool, which can accommodates smaller groups. Toilets, showers and washing machines are also available.
Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon
Located about 65 km. from Skaftafell, abd 370 km. east of Reykjavik, Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon is a sight to behold for visitors hoping to see floating ice in Iceland. You can explore the lagoon in one of the boat tours offered in the area. The distinct blue-green color of the lagoon provides a stark contrast to the floating blocks of white ice that have broken off the glacier and are floating around the lagoon. This natural wonder of Iceland is something that is worth making the trip to see!
