Reykavík Arts Festival – throughout the city
The Reykjavík Pond in the center of the city and Reykjavik Harbor will be central points to Reykajvík Arts Festival this year. The festival will open with a newly commissioned performance work musician Högni Egilsson (member of bands GusGus and Hjaltalín) by the Pond at 5.30 PM on Thursday May 22nd.
The title of this year’s festival is “Not finished”, reflecting the creative work of an artist never being completed. Nearly 500 artists will participate in or contribute to this year festival, featuring over sixty concerts, theatre productions, film screenings, performances and exhibitions. For two weeks every year the festival presents, to the widest possible audience, exhibitions and performances of contemporary and classical works in major cultural venues and unconventional spaces throughout the city.

Take a unigue trip inside a Volcano
Þríhnjúkagígur is a 4,000-year-old volcano just 30 minutes drive southeast of Reykjavík. After an eruption, the magma chamber of a volcano usually fills up and is sealed with hard cold lava. However, Þríhnjúkagígur’s highly unusual empty magma chamber makes it possible to explore the heart of the volcano from the inside. A temporary lift carries visitors through the narrow
bottleneck of the crater into the 120-meter-deep (394 ft.) dome. Tours available from May 15 to September 15.

Tuesday Jazz at Kex Hostel
Kex Jazz is a zazz concert series on Kex Hostel every Tuesday. Some of Iceland's best jazz mussicians are regulars. Starts at 20.30 and admission is free of charge. Skúlagata 28, 101 Reykjavík.

Have you ever tasted a narwhal pizza?
We have and it is delicious. Don't worry, it is not actually with a narwhal topping but sea salad. And as all the pizzas at restaurant Hverfisgata 12 it is exotic and excellent. Hverfisgata 12, 101 Reykjavík.

Best hotel bar
Hótel Holt is basically in my backyard and I love having secret meetings in the hotel bar. This is where most of my circus and comedy plots are laid. Also, they have the best happy hour in town.” Hótel Holt, Bergstaðastræti 37, 101 Reykjavík.

Tiny space, strong brew
Local coffee enthusiasts claim the best cup of coffee downtown is to be found at Reykjavík Roasters, so the tiny space can get pretty crowded.  You may not always be able to enjoy the strong brew that will jolt you awake on the premises, but you can of course always grab one to go. Reykjavík Roasters, Kárastígur 1, 101 Reykjavík
