Obviously, this food festival may not attract vegetarians – nonetheless, this gastronomical feast will cater to many other people. Because even though bacon is the main treat at the festival, there will be a farmer’s market along with fish products. Restaurants such as Hótel Holt, Roadhouse and others will offer bacon inspired treats for guests. While you are feasting on all the wonderful food, you can listen to the Icelandic band Brim that will be playing during the festival. The festival starts at 14:00 on Saturday the 16th of August and lasts until 17:00 and is at Skólavörðustígur.

Neutral Milk Hotel is a band that does not need much introduction, especially since it has been going strong since the late 80s. However, they will finally bring their talent to Iceland and will be performing in the Harpa Concert Hall on the 20th of August. Traditional Icelandic culinary history at Árbær Open Air Museum
If you are interested in learning more about Iceland and its culinary tradition, you should head over to Árbær Open Air Museum, since the focus on the 17th of August will be old, rural Icelandic society. The museum’s staff will provide guests with a peek into the past by allowing them to assist in the household chores, thus allowing guests to experience how Icelanders lived in the past. Guests will learn how to make skyr, one of Iceland’s most iconic dishes, as well as butter. Other events include the staff exhibiting traditional spinning as well as other crafts. Every Saturday until Reykjavík Cultural Night (the 23rd of August), there will be a street food fair called Krás Street Food Market in the Fógetagarðinum (Bailiff’s Garden). Many of Reykjavík’s finest high-end restaurants along with street food vendors will be cooking delightful food for onlookers. Not only do you get the opportunity to taste some of the best food Reykjavík has to offer, you can also relax with a nice glass of wine in one of Reykjavík’s most historical spots, which is located on the corner of Kirkjustígur and Aðalstræti.
Inter Milan comes to Reykjavík
A historic match will be taking place on Wednesday, August 20th at the National Football Stadium, Laugardalsvöllur. Former Italian Champions and Champions League winners in 2011, Inter Milan, have been drawn against the Icelandic side, Stjarnan in a Europe League playoff match. Tickets for the game are sold out, but bars all over Iceland are sure to be packed for this David vs. Goliath match-up. Visit Lebowski Bar on Laugavegur, or travel over to Ölver Sports bar in Laugardalur, to catch all of the action and to see if Stjarnan can pull off the upset!

You know a band is fun when it takes its name from a film series such as Police Academy. This quartet has been making a name for itself due its soulful music, which could be labeled Icelandic soul.
