Car enthusiasts gather in Akureyri
Between June 13th and 17th a variety of car-shows take place in Akureyri in North Iceland. This car-show is an annual event attracting car enthusiasts as well as those who have never shown particular interest to cars aside from driving one. (Warning: the show may turn a non-enthusiast into one). You have a choice of attending all days by purchasing a wristband (ISK7,500), or paying a per-day entry fee (ISK1,500) should you want to only visit for a day or two. A wheel-spinning area is open 24-hours a day during the show days and only closed during events. To ensure ‘clean’ driving, drivers will be asked to take a Breathalyzer test before spinning their wheels.

A whole new meaning to night skiing
Looking for a real adventure? Time’s running out, but this is your chance to experience heliskiing like you’ll never experience anywhere else. Skiing all the way down to the ocean, basking in the rays of the midnight sun, heliskiing in June in Iceland is an experience that cannot be described in words. Operated by Bergmenn Mountain Guides, you have the option of a four-day or a six-day heliskiing tour starting June 16th – the last tours of the season. Time may not be your friend, but booking is as easy as 1, 2, 3.
A Flatey Island Special to Hrísey Island
On June 20th, you can jump on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sail on the Hrísey Island Ferry from Hrísey Island to Flatey Island. Departures are from Árskógssandur near the town of Dalvík, and from Hrísey Island in Eyjafjörður Fjord. The boat trip is 3-hours long and once on land in Flatey Island you get to feast on a grandiose BBQ before dancing the night away at the Flatey Island Assembly House. The stop is scheduled to last 4 hours, and you can expect to be back on the mainland in beautiful 2am daylight. Tickets are ISK14,000 and can be purchased by calling +354.695.5544.

Imagine a world where men and elves live together in harmony. But one day, dragons appear from inside the mountains. They attack people’s villages and murder the inhabitants. The elves flee across the ocean, leaving the humans to fend for themselves. The few survivors learn to live with dragons, but they live in fear. The humans are also angry at the elves for leaving. Life as they knew it has changed and has become breakable.
