With all the trimmings
“Ein með öllu” (meaning “with all the trimmings”) is an annual family festival that takes place in Akureyri on the first weekend of August, with various activities in the town. The festival’s theme is “romance with a dash of nostalgia”.
Among the countless activities taking place during the weekend are family yoga, a food market, a flea market and a cosy ‘50’s themed picnic located in a grove by the Industrial Museum.
Visit the circus
The only circus in Iceland will be performing in Akureyri until August 2nd. Sirkus Íslands offers three different shows; “Heima er best” is a family show, “S.I.R.K.U.S.” is aimed at the youngest generation and then there is “Skinnsemi”, a show for adults only.
Tickets can be purchased on Midi.is.
In the footsteps of Vikings
“I recommend taking a drive to the nearby town of Hofsós, where you can unwind in their beautiful infinity pool. If you’d rather take a dip in a historic site, I recommend Grettislaug.”
