Local brewery Kaldi has opened Iceland's first beer spa in the village of Árskógarsandur by Eyjafjörður fjord in North Iceland. Guests can now literally bathe in beer in one of the spa's seven tubs. The owners of Kaldi claim that bathing in the beer can have health benefits.

The tubs will be filled with beer, water, hops and yeast . Each one is meant for one or two people to enjoy. There, guests relax for 25 minutes before moving on to another room for another 25 minutes of beer based treatment, according to local news site Mbl.is. The spa is modelled after popular Czech beer baths.

No age limit to bathe in beer
Even though the tubs are filled with beer, the spa has no age limit as the bath water is impotable. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by adults, though. The spa also includes a restaurant which can seat up to 80 people.

Kaldi is located in the small village Árskógssandur, around 25 minutes drive (33 km/20.5 mi) from town Akureyri, which is the largest town of North Iceland. The distance from Reykjavík to Árskógssandur is 395 km (345 mi).
