The weather forecast does not envision any more snowfall during the rest of the week. However, the snow which fell on Sunday morning is expected to remain, as the temperature is expected to remain at or below freezing. We can therefore look forward to a week of beautiful winter weather.
Clear skies, slight frost
The Icelandic Meteorological Office is forecasting a strong breeze, 10-18 m/s (22-40 mph) and mostly clear skies during the day. The strongest winds will be in South East and North West Iceland. Snow or sleet in the northeast until morning, snow showers in the north and east, but fair in the south and west. The snowfall will slow by the evening. The temperature will remain below freezing, -1 to -6°C (21°-30°F).
On Tuesday the IMO is expecting a breeze 8-15 m/s (18-34 mph). Snow showers in Eastern Iceland, but mainly fair and clear skies in other parts of Iceland. The temperature will be at or above freezing in South Iceland, 0°to 5°C (32°-41°F), but cools by the evening.
On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: temperatures will drop, and most parts of Iceland can expect considerable frost. A northerly breeze and clear skies, except North East Iceland.
On Saturday and Sunday: A breeze from and partly clear skies, stiff wind and some snow showers in South Iceland.
