One of the most popular destinations in South Iceland is the village of Vík. Situated in the foothills of Mýrdalsjökull glacier, Vík could be described as the capital of the Black Sand beaches of South Iceland.
A Dutch photographer, Tom War, recently made this great video of Vík and the surrounding areas – featuring lots of great shots of the cutest inhabitants of the region: The puffins! Anyone planning to visit Vík should definitely check out the video to get a sense of the place and surrounding areas.
Tom is a Polar Guide and Photographer who works on Icebreakers in the Arctic and Antarctic. He told Iceland Insider that he fell in love with Iceland when he was 18 years old. He has spent a lot of time doing voluntary work with his sister in Vik:
As soon as me and my sister were off from work, we would go into nature and explore and try to capture the beauty of Iceland on camera. We needed a lot of dedication, patience and luck for some of the shots, and in the end it was all worth it.
Be sure to cick HD!
One small note: DO NOT DISTURB THE PUFFINS IN THEIR NESTS!
Last winter we at Iceland Insider recently featured another of Tom's videos, following Tom and friends on an Aurora-hunting road trip around Iceland.
