Josh Pellegrini visited Iceland in June with his friend Kyle with the intention of diving in Silfra fissure in Þingvellir National Park. When the two US travelers arrived they discovered there was plenty of other things to do, as Iceland has far more to offer than one great diving spot!

We are from Philadelphia and thought it would be a great 4 day trip. Our home base was in Reykjavik. We rented a car and hiked throughout the day.

They made full use of the midnight sun in the summer to hike and explore more than they had initially planned, allowing them to pack more adventure into the short stay.

Our favorite hike was a random stop off on our way to Thorsmork. We couldn't’t make the drive because we didn't’t have a 4×4 so we had to settle for a waterfall we saw in the distance. At the top of the mountain we found a rainbow, then got lost in a storm. The weather surprised us with its volatility.

Josh made this great travel video of his stay in Iceland. From the look of it, it seems the two travelers had a great time. His one top advice for first time visitors? While the Blue Lagoon is great, a random hike in the wilderness is more enjoyable and a better use of your time. His top pick? Glymur waterfall – the second tallest waterfall in Iceland. Glymur is located less than an hour's drive from Reykjavík. After you make the ca 70 km (45 mi) drive from Reykjavík to the end of Hvalfjörður fjord you need to hike 2.5 km (1.5 mi) up a picturesque valley and canyon to get to the waterfall. The scenery along the way will not disappoint!
