There were around 1.400 earthquakes close to Bárðabunga volcano in Vatnajökull glacier on August 17 and 18. The earthquakes are close to 3.000 now but you can see the intense underground movement in the first 48 hours in the animation below.
Scientists and civil protection authorities are expecting an eruption in the area. Nearby roads are still closed for all traffic. Here is a link to a webcam over looking Bárðarbunga.
