Designer and coder Aitor García Rey has updated his animation to showing 1.762 earthquakes in and close to Bárðabunga volcano in the last 72 hours, August 17, 18 and 19.
The intense seismic activity that started on 16 of August at Bárðarbunga volcano persists according to The Icelandic Met Office. Presently there are no signs of eruption, but it cannot be excluded that the current activity will result in an explosive subglacial eruption.
Since the activity started are around 3.000 earthquakes have been detected.
