This week we have been blessed with glorious weather in South and West Iceland. According to the Icelandic Met Office (IMO) it will remain warm and sunny during the long bank holiday weekend ahead in the southwest. No such good news for the northeast where it will remain rather grim, wet and cold considering it’s July.

IMO's forecast

Saturday
Mostly fair in the south- and west. Intermittent rain or drizzle in the northeastern and eastern part but mostly dry in other areas. Temperature 9 to 18 C (48-64 F) warmest in the southwest but coldest in the northeast.

Sunday
Rather light northeasterly wind. Light precipitation in the north and east, but partly cloudy and rainshowers in the south and west, especially in the afternoon. Temperature 6 to 16 C (43-61 F) warmest in the southwest but coldest in the northeast.

Monday
Rather light northerly or variable wind and rainshowers, especially in the south and west. Temperature 8 to 16 C (46-61 F) warmest in the southwest but coldest in the northeast.
