Much of Iceland will bask in glorious sunshine today and the temperature will be quite decent too in a country where double figures are always a cause for a celebration. According to the Icelandic Met Office (IMO) the temperature will be 17 C (63 F) in Reykjavík and Akureyri (North Iceland) and could reach 22 C (72 F) in Borgarfjörður fjord on the west coast.
It will be cloudy in the capital area and by the south coast but all other parts of Iceland will enjoy the sun.
IMO warning: Gale wind and sharp wind gusts are expected in South Iceland, by Eyjafjöll mountains, Mýrdalur valley and in the Öræfi region until evening.
If you are travelling by the south coast today, keep an eye out for the waterfall Rjúkandi in the Eyjafjöll mountain range close to Route 1. On windy days like this it usually runs upside down as can be seen in this video.
