The Feast of the Epiphany is celebrated all over Iceland today, 6th of January. This is the last day of Christmas, and on this day the thirteen mischievous Icelandic Yule Lads head back to their homes in the mountains. The festivities end with a huge communal bonfire and a fireworks display.
However, bad weather could affect celebrations all over Iceland, reports Vísir.is. The Icelandic Met Office issued a strong gale warning for all parts of the country, with winds reaching up to 23 metres per second (51 mph).
Bonfires scheduled to take place in Grafarholt in Reykjavík, Akranes, Digranes in Kópavogur and in Selfoss have been postponed. So far the weather forecast hasn’t deterred celebrations in Grafarvogur and Ægisíða in Reykjavík, in Hafnarfjörður and in Akureyri.
