An Australian traveller woke up in the middle of the night in a locked and abandoned bus in a bus depot parking lot after falling asleep on the way from Keflavík airport. After spending half an hour inside the bus, hoping for someone to return back to the bus and shouting for help, the traveller finally escaped from the bus after she located an emergency exit.

Spent 30 min in abandoned bus
The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service RÚV reports that Hanna Pethani, a Sydney resident, arrived in Iceland on Monday evening. She took the fly bus to Reykjavík, but on the way she fell asleep, and didn't wake up when the rest of the passengers left the bus. The driver didn't see her and failed to check if anyone was left on the bus when he returned it to the bus depot.

The driver didn't see me, left the bus and closed the door. when I woke up at half past one in the morning, it was pitch black outside and I was locked in the bus where they are kept overnight, Hanna told RÚV. I was very scared, I kind of lost it. I had no idea how I could get out. I banged on the door and screamed for help, but to no avail. I had been calling for help, and fumbling in the dark for half an hour when I finally found the handle for the emergency exit.

Dropped off at the correct destionation
After she escaped from the bus she got to the terminal cafeteria where she found the driver eating a snack. The surprised driver then dropped Hanna off at her correct destination.
