A large landslide occurred at Dyrhólaey peninsula, South Iceland, on Friday. Rocks and debris fell from Lágey in Dyrhólaey and down onto Kirkjufjara beach, reports the National Broadcasting Service.

Jón Björnsson, a ranger in South Iceland, and local police inspected the area on Saturday. Jón estimates the landslide is around six metre (20 feet) wide and predicts more landslides will occur in the next days.

“Luckily the landslide happened in an area away from the main walking trails and viewing points. A large landslide occurred on Háey in Dyrhólaey this summer, prompting us to move the path further away from the edge. Visitors should be safe, as long as they stay on the trails,” he said.
