The annual Pride Parade, called Gleðigangan in Icelandic, takes place tomorrow, Saturday 6 August, at 2 pm. The Icelandic parade is a family-friendly affair that attracts a huge crowd each year.
The mayor of Reykjavík, Dagur B. Eggertsson, and other members of the city council will join the Reykjavík Pride management team on their float.
„This idea was presented to us by the Reykjavík Pride team and we loved it,” says Dagur. “All the councilmen are asked to join the parade each year and I think this year we will be about ten in total,“ the mayor told Gay Iceland. Adding: “I think this parade truly is a parade of joy because it makes the city more beautiful and better in every way, not to mention more fun and colorful.”
News website Vísir.is will broadcast live from the event tomorrow.
