KexReiðar, an annual bike race organised by Kex Hostel, takes place on Saturday, 4 June. The race’s starting point is at Vitagarður park, located behind Kex Hostel.
The race is a traditional “road race”, or a criterium, where riders start simultaneously with the winner being the first to the finish line. The KexReiðar course is 1.45 km (1 mile) and runs through downtown Reykjavík, including Hverfisgata, Klapparstígur and Skúlagata.
The event has two categories: category A does 20 laps (30 km/18 mi) and starts at 5 pm, category B cycles 14 laps (20 km/12 mi), starting at 4 pm.
The event is great viewing for spectators as it allows people to see the riders pass by a number of times.
