An earthquake, 2.9 of magnitude, struck shortly before midnight yesterday some 4 kilometres (2.4 miles) north of Húsavík, North Iceland. The earthquake was felt by the town’s residents who reported it to the IMO. No aftershocks have been reported in the area.
