The American yacht which sent out a distress signal early morning has been located. The three crew members are all safe, but the yacht has suffered a broken mast and a power outage. A marine research vessel will be joining up with the yacht, providing assistance to its crew.

The yacht was found by a plane from the Icelandic Airport Authority shortly after ten. The Icelandic Coast Guard has managed to establish communication with the yacht, determining the crew was ok, although the yacht had lost power and suffered a broken mast. The yacht is located on the high seas south of Iceland, far outside Icelandic territorial waters. The Coast Guard received a distress call from the yacht at half past four in the morning.
After the yacht had been located further rescue operations have been canceled. The marine research vessel Árni Friðriksson, which had been engaged in research near yacht, will sail to meet up with the yacht, assisting its crew.
