All passengers affected by Icelandair strike should get to their destinations today 7539

Icelandair expects it will be able to get all travellers who were left stranded by the two day strike by airline mechanics working for the company to their destinations today. Passengers are advised to expect some delays today as the airline scrambles to get its flights back to schedule. Icelandair expects some delays tomorrow.

The strike, which began on Sunday morning and ended early today morning, Tuesday, caused dozens of flights to be canceled, affecting up to 20,000 passengers who had booked flights with Icelandair. In addition to the 20 flights canceled on Sunday and the 35 flights canceled on Monday Icelandair canceled four flights on Tuesday morning.

Björgólfur Jóhansson, the CEO of Icelandair told the local newspaper Morgunblaðið that the company is doing everything it can to get back to full steam, although it will take some time to get all passengers to their destinations. The company has contacted passengers to alert them to the situation.
