UPDATE 10:20: Planes were permitted to land after 9:00 am, but passengers have not yet been allowed to disembark as planes cannot dock due to the storm. No planes will be allowed to departure until the weather has improved.

All international departures and arrivals at Keflavík Airport have been canceled due to the storm which is currently passing over South West Iceland. Windgusts in excess of 30 meters per second (67 mph) have been recorded at the airport this morning.
The Police in Suðurnes District has also issued a warning to travellers planning to drive between Keflavík and Reykjavík are also warned that conditions on all roads leading into and out of the city are extremely challenging due to the wind.

The decision to cancel all flights was made at 3:00 in the morning when it became clear how severe the storm was actually going to be. No planes are scheduled to land in Keflavík until nine, the earliest.
Yesterday The Icelandic Meteorological Office issued a Yellow Weather Alert for all of Iceland except the Eastfjords. Later the alert for the capital region was upgraded to Orange. All ICE-SAR companies in Reykjavík have been busy since early morning assisting homeowners and businesses deal with the storm and secure loose objects.
