Agreement to build a solar silicon factory signed 610

An American company, Silicor Materials, is behind the construction of a new solar silicon plant, according to ruv.is. The CEO of Silicor Materials, Terry Jester, is in Iceland today and will be signing an agreement alongside the Port Captain at Faxaflóahafnir Associated Icelandic Ports, Gísli Gíslason. 

Silicor Materials is the leading manufacturer of high-quality solar silicon, currently powering more than 20 million solar PV cells for customers around the world.

As reported by mbl.is, the expected start date for construction is this coming October, and the project is supposed to be completed in June 2016. The hope is that the first stage of the operation of the plant will be in July 2017, and that the plant will be in full-operation three months later, or in October 2017. 

Terms of a contract to build a solar silicon factory at Grundartangi Port will be signed today at noon.
