Menningarnótt, or Culture Night, is an annual culture event taking place all over Reykjavík on Saturday, 22nd of August. This year, the event celebrates its 20th anniversary, making the fair that much bigger and better.
One of Menningarnótt’s most popular attractions is the Vöfflukaffi, where residents in downtown Reykjavík invite guests into their homes for a waffle, coffee, and a friendly chat between 2 pm and 4 pm.
Events will take place all over the city centre: in museums, private homes, out on the streets, and in parks. The highlight of the evening is a massive firework display taking place by the Harpa Concert Hall at 11 pm.
Music lovers will be spoilt for choice on Saturday, beginning with Tónaflóð, Radio 2’s annual Culture Night concert, taking place at Arnarhóll hill between 8 pm and 11 pm. This year’s line-up includes Dimma, Amabadama, and Stuðmenn. While artists Berndsen, Hermigervill, Good Moon Deer, and East of My Youth will appear at the 2015 Festisvall art and music festival at KEX Hostel at 8 pm.
