A rare gem of a house for sale in the old part of Reykjavík 2855

There is a very limited supply on Reykjavík’s real estate market of houses like this. Located at the quiet Bárugata street, in the oldest part of the capital, it’s within a 10 minutes walk from the buzzing centre of the city.

The stately kitchen Table tops are Carrara marble.

The house was built in 1926 and has been beautifully maintained and tastefully restored. It was built as a single family home but is now divided into two apartments, a small one on the ground floor and a much larger unit that occupies the three top floors.

The main apartment has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, three living rooms, and a large kitchen with Carrara marble table tops. The bathroom faucets are by Danish design company Vola. The house has a large south-facing garden.

The smaller ground floor apartment has three bedrooms and one bathroom. In total the house is 236 square meters (2.540 square feet).

There is not a fixed price on the house but potential buyers can put in offers. The going rate for square meter in this area of Reykjavík is 400.000 to 450.000 ISK (EUR 2,703-3,041/$3,076-3,461). Our guess is that the house will probably go above that and sell for at least 120 million ISK (EUR 811,000/ $923,000).
