Take a moment to let this sink in: This September, around 12% of Icelanders (331.000) will attend two Justin Bieber concerts in Kórinn stadium in the Reykjavík suburb of Kópavogur. That portion equals around 42 million of the American nation.
The Canadian pop icon will kick off the European leg of his 2016 Purpose World Tour in Iceland. When almost 20.000 tickets sold out in less than 30 minutes in early December, the Icelandic promoters managed to negotiate another concert. The second batch of tickets went on sale this morning, and is rapidly selling out. The concerts will take place on 8 and 9 September.
This will be the second time Justin visits Iceland. He came in September and spent his time visiting some of the country's natural wonders. When leaving the musician declared his love for Iceland and said: “Best trip ever”.
On 2 November the singer then published a new music video to his single I'll Show You, shot entirely in Iceland during his visit. The video received rave reviews and has, as for today, been viewed on YouTube more than 117 million times.
Justin will be the second superstar to perform at Kórinn stadium. Justin Timberlake entertained Icelandic fans there in 2014.
