The Icelandic Met Office (IMO) has issued weather warning to travellers for the east and northwest for today and tomorrow. Accompanying the strong wind will be considerable snowfall meaning we have a genuine winter blizzard ahead of us in those areas of the country.

The bad weather will make for hazardous driving conditions and people should avoid travelling while the storm batters those parts of the country. It will be especially windy in Skagafjörður fjord, at Tröllaskagi peninsula and Eyjafjörður fjord in North Iceland early in the morning tomorrow.

Increasing northeast wind, 13 to 20 m/s in the evening in the east part and considerable snow or sleet, but rain by the southeast coast in evening. Northeast 10 to 15 m/s (36-54 km/h, 22-34 mph) in the west and mostly dry. Temperature near 0 C (32 F). Increasing wind tonight. Becoming north 18 to 23 m/s (65-83 km/h, 40-51 mph) in the northwest part tomorrow with considerable snow, but in the northeast by evening. Lighter wind and occasional snowshowers in the south. Becoming colder.
