A film crew of 140 people arrived on Monday in Reyðarfjörður village, East Iceland, to film the second series of Sky Atlantic‘s hit show Fortitude.
The crew’s arrival has not gone unnoticed and, according to the National Broadcasting Service, residents have been very accommodating despite minor disruptions to their daily lives, such as all lights having to be turned off between 4.30 and 8 pm this evening. Traffic will also be restricted during filming.
Outdoor filming conditions have been ideal – with abundance of snow. Last year the production team was forced to transport fake snow to Reyðarfjörður from the UK.
According to the show‘s creator, most of the characters who were left standing at the end of season one will return for the second season. New characters will also be introduced, including one Michael Lennox protraied by Dennis Quaid. Mrs. Lennox is played by Northern-Irish actress Michelle Fairley, best known for her roles as Catelyn Stark in Game of Thrones.
