An ambitious project to create a 3D solid-terrain model of Iceland in Mosfellsdalur valley could see the light of day within the next two years, reports newsagent Vísir. The model will be the world’s largest, covering an area larger than two football (soccer) fields.

Ketill Már Björnsson, the man behind the grandiose idea, says the imagery data will be in full colour and obtained from the National Land Survey of Iceland. The model will be on the scale 1:4,000.

“Guests will be able to stroll around the country and admire all of Iceland’s natural wonders, while learning more about the country’s history, geography, flora and fauna,” Ketill explains. Adding: “You’ll be able to explore the whole of Hvalfjörður fjord in only 15 steps.”

Admission is expected to be around 15 Euros (16 USD).
