The 12th annual Rey Cup football tournament began today. The five-day event, which takes place in Laugardalur valley, gives young players the opportunity to meet with their peers from around the world. This year 87 teams will participate in the tournament, including teams from England, Scotland, France, Germany, The Netherlands, the U.S.A. and Canada.
Jahvan Davidson Miller, a football player with Derby County, is excited for the tournament.
“I’ve come here to check out the other players, and to improve my own skills. This is a great experience for us all and it gives us insight into other cultures,” he said in an interview with Fréttablaðið newspaper today.
