Icelandair‘s mechanics will strike today in an effort to settle their wage-dispute. The strike will lead to 65 flight cancellations, which will ultimately affect 12,000 travelers.
Today is the first temporary work stoppage that is planned. The striking started at 6am GMT and is expected to go for 24 hours if no agreement is reached. Furthermore, a full-blown strike is planned to start on Thursday June 19.
Similar to Icelandair’s pilot strike of last month, direct government intervention could potentially prevent the strike.
