A third of Icelanders want to see Katrín Jakobsdóttir, chairman of the Left Green Movement, as Iceland’s next Prime Minister, according to a new survey conducted by Gallup.
Gallup asked respondents: “Who would you like to see as Iceland’s next Prime Minister?” A vast majority, or 37 % of Icelanders, want Katrín Jakobsdóttir, who has been the Left Green’s chairman since 2013, to become the next PM. 20 % want Bjarni Benediktsson, the minister of finance, to become Prime Minister.
6% named Helgi Hrafn Gunnarsson, member of the popular Pirate Party, and 5 % would like newly appointed PM, Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson, to remain as Prime Minister.
